Flexible MAcc Program
The Flexible Master of Accountancy Program is designed with the working professional in mind and allows the student to complete the program by attending classes primarily offered in the evening. Flexible MAcc Program students can start the program from their current educational attainment and complete Accounting and Business prerequisites as a part of the overall Master of Accountancy program, if necessary. Full-time students with an undergraduate Accounting degree can complete the 30-credit hour program in as little as 12 months, while part-time students can choose a pace that fits their schedule and time constraints.
Flexible Program Admission
Admission Requirements Include:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any major.
- An overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- An accounting GPA of 2.8
- Students who need to complete undergraduate accounting prerequisites to graduate accounting study will be offered conditional admission until the requirements are met.
- Evidence for the potential for success in the MAcc program based on the applicant’s professional and managerial experience, superior academic achievement or previous graduate degree.
- Students not meeting the GPA requirements may achieve admission based on additional evidence for the potential for success in the Macc program, such as references from academic mentors or work supervisors, a statement of intent or satisfactory GMAT (Washburn Code: 6928), GRE or LSAT scores.
How to Apply to the Flexible MAcc Program:
- Submit your application for the Master of Accountancy program, including a statement of your work experience with any internship and volunteer experience.
- Submit an official transcript from the school awarding your bachelor’s degree directly to: the Master of Accountancy Program Director, Washburn University.
- The MAcc Program Director may request additional evidence of potential for success in graduate study listed above to offer provisional admission when an application does not meet the program’s GPA requirements.
- Graduate entrance exam scores such as GMAT, GRE, or LSAT may be submitted, but are generally not required.
- An application fee may be required.

Students admitted to the Flexible MAcc Program must maintain a cumulative Washburn grade point average of 3.0 or higher for coursework completed subsequent to admission to be considered in good standing in the program. If a student's cumulative GPA subsequent to admission falls below the 3.0 minimum, the student is placed on probation and given one semester to return to good standing. In unusual cases, the MAcc Program director may grant one additional probationary semester. A student who fails to return to good standing is subject to dismissal from the program. Students may petition for exceptions to this policy in unusual cases.
